We are looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Project Civil Engineering organization in Vaasa, Finland.

How you'll make an impact

As a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer you will support the project team and partly sales team. Be the main interface to client and/or for contractors for many aspects of civil related tasks/works, as well as lead external civil design companies in our projects. Your task is focused on supporting in projects execution as the expert in the field of Civil/Structural engineering and developing the way of working. You will be responsible for challenging and varied duties in different projects and tenders carried out in cooperation with other specialists. The customer-oriented project work requires the ability to work independently and to take initiative.

To succeed in this task, you need to have broad experience of structural/civil design work or tendering work, or have site supervision experience, and good teamwork and communication skills. Preferably you have experience of project business and want to broaden your professional expertise and responsibilities, we offer you the possibility.

Depending on your experience and areas of interest, your responsibilities will include:

  • To be the specialist in civil/structural related questions during project execution, possibly tender stage as well
  • Supporting the project team by steering civil related matters internally keeping projects on track technically, financially and schedule vice
  • Leading external civil company design and making sure the outcome is qualitative and cost effective
  • Be the voice to wards the customer in civil related matters
  • Review of the relevant sections of the contract agreements and the permit requirements.
  • Recognizing possible cost-saving opportunities.
  • Clarification of open issues with the contract partners regarding civil topics.
  • Identifying deficiencies or potential risks/claims regarding civil topics.
  • Preparing the tendering material for the civil part in projects and possibly in tender stage
  • Preparing the quotation materials to civil subcontractors
  • Preparing the quotation materials to civil design companies
  • Other construction-related duties in cooperation with specialists from other fields of expertise.

Your background

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in construction/civil engineering
  • Experience in civil/structural design, site supervision, site design or tendering work. Ideally from industrial project business.
  • A solid knowledge of construction materials and methods
  • Basic construction software user skills, e.g., Auto CAD
  • The ability to take initiative
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Finnish. Swedish will be advantage.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with various project teams and internal/external partners.

Ideally, you have

  • Experience from project business
  • Construction design skills and basic architectural design skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D design tools and building information modelling (BIM)
