The opportunity

We are looking for a SCM Specialist at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in Vaasa. In this role, you will be supporting our Supply Chain Management organization in the end-to-end sourcing process, including supplier/contractor selection, qualification, negotiations and contract management. You will ensure that purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will leverage the purchasing power of Hitachi Energy on a global base for local spend to achieve the set performance targets. Moreover, this is a unique opportunity to be involved and support our new Hitachi Energy Park construction project.

Even the task list below is long, there is more than one way to approach this role. You can be a strong professional with several years of relevant experience or a more junior candidate. The main thing is that you have a can-do attitude, willingness and courage to test your limits in learning new things and taking on the challenges that are part of our daily work. Depending on your background, we will provide training and support to help you grow into this role. How you'll make an impact

  • Purchase requisition and purchase order management in SAP S4 HANA and SAP Ariba for direct and indirect materials and services according to required technical specification, price, delivery schedule and other given terms and conditions.
  • Manage the day-to-day cooperation with a portfolio of suppliers and contractors fulfilling the needs of both internal and external customer.
  • Support local business in CAPEX projects execution.
  • Adapt corporate contractual framework to the local business needs.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and contract management with suppliers.
  • Ensure identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies.
  • Define and establish local standard agreements.
  • Provide and maintain standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines.
  • Support global sourcing initiatives for the global category, working closely with key stakeholders to implement regional category strategies.
  • Run regional/local sourcing initiatives under a defined threshold.
  • Manage the cooperation with a portfolio of approved suppliers and oversee their performance.
  • On-board new suppliers in close collaboration with the respective local stakeholders and provide supplier reports to business and category manager.
  • Monitor and track supplier performance to set price and service levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prepare adequate supply specifications.
  • Foster communication internally and between different departments and support the implementation of SCM activities and initiatives in the local organization through this clear communication.
  • Manage local allocated spend in accordance with instructions and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize cost, submit requests for quotation and drive cost savings project.
  • Support on assigned claim management to maximize compensation to Hitachi Energy and escalate as necessary.
  • Work on improving assigned supplier performance measurement and improvement tasks.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in international business / industrial management or other relevant field of study
  • Some years' of experience in Supply Chain Management / Strategic sourcing
  • Fluent written and verbal skills in Finnish and in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent cooperation and negotiation skills
  • Advanced skills of MS Excel and other office tools is seen as an advantage
