The opportunity
Within the area of High Voltage Products, the Technology Center Switzerland is responsible - as part of a global development organization - for the development and optimization of products like Gas Insulated Switchgear, Generator Circuit Breakers, Surge Arresters, High Voltage Interrupter Chambers, Insulation Components as well as Control and Monitoring solutions.
The materials team supports colleagues from throughout the business unit with material selection, qualification, processing, and failure analysis, to ensure the highest quality and best customer experience of our products.
We are looking for a Chemist or Materials Expert (f/m/d) with a broad background in chemistry, materials characterization methods, sustainability, and materials compliance. How you'll make an impact
- Materials selection, specification, and qualification as part of product development projects in interdisciplinary teams between materials science, mechanical- and electrical engineering
- Support our global teams in monitoring, and interpreting material-related regulations to assure Hitachi Energies High Voltage Products portfolio sustainability and compliance
- Close collaboration with scientists and engineers from Hitachi Energy research, development centers and external laboratories and service providers around the world
- Drive continuous improvement processes including audit and oversight mechanisms related to materials selection, testing, sustainability, and compliance
- Create and maintain the appropriate internal guidelines, processes and standards for product qualification, testing, sustainability, and compliance
Your background
- Master's degree or equivalent degree (university of applied science/university) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or closely related subject
- Experience in project management with working knowledge of product material compliance regulations like REACH, RoHS, EU WFD, TSCA, Conflict Minerals is a strong asset
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English, basic German skills, or willingness to learn German
- Willingness to travel (5-10%)
