Job Description: Electrical Transient Simulation Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Transient Simulation Engineer with expertise in transient and transformer converter applications. This role is essential maintain and increase transformer and converter interaction's reliability. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining new design rules for these applications, enhancing our knowledge base, and supporting customer interactions and quality assurance processes.

  • Design and Development:


  • Develop and implement innovative design rules for transformer and converter applications to mitigate interaction failures.

  • Create and validate medium-frequency models and simulations to predict and analyze system behavior.


  • Design and analyze inductive-capacitive models and high-frequency electrical devices to ensure optimal performance.


  • Phenomena Investigation:


  • Investigate and model overvoltage phenomena, including overvoltage distributions and related circuit phenomena.


  • Study the effects of lightning discharges and other transient events on electrical systems.


  • Utilize advanced simulation tools such as FEM (Finite Element Method) and Matlab to conduct detailed analyses of network resonance and reconfiguration.


  • Customer and Quality Support:


  • Collaborate with customers during the specification stage to ensure designs meet their requirements and performance expectations.


  • Provide technical support to quality teams in addressing ongoing quality cases and customer inquiries.


  • Develop comprehensive reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.


  • Research and Knowledge Building:


  • Conduct research to build a deeper understanding of transformer and converter interactions.


  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and simulation technologies.


  • Share knowledge and best practices with the engineering team to foster continuous improvement.

Key Competencies:

Must have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.


  • Experience with transient and transformer converter applications.


  • Fresh graduates or PhD holders with a strong theoretical background are welcome to apply.


  • Strong background in basic mathematical analysis and modelling of electrical effects (capacitive and inductive coupling, electric circuits and its elements etc.)


  • Good knowledge of elements of electric distribution system, their behaviour and different models.


  • Good knowledge of grid connected power electronics topologies and switching behaviour.


  • Transformer and capacitor high-frequency transient modelling.


  • Experience in distribution system transient analysis, modelling, and simulation


  • Experience in modelling and simulation (coding) in MATLAB and Python


  • Experience using dedicated electric circuit simulation tools: MATLAB Simulink, PLECS, LT Spice, EMTP


  • Critical thinking and reasoning


  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written (preparation of reports and presentation material)

Nice to have:

  • Some experience or at least familiar with Finite element simulation tools (Ansys Comsol). COMENT: We have dedicated teams that do this kind of sim when things get complicated, but it is very helpful if basics are there and some small details can be finalized independently.


  • Basic control concepts of grid connected power electronics converters.


  • Average modelling of power electronics converters.


  • Small signal modelling and analysis of electric and especially power systems with power electronics converters.
