Project Planning and Controls Specialist
Seize this opportunity to become part of Hitachi Energy's High Voltage team in the UK & Ireland. As a Project Planning and Controls Specialist, you will be acting as a key resource for planning, scheduling, controlling and monitoring of customer specific projects of various values and complexity. Delivering accurate and thorough information about the project status, including the schedule, progress, planned, actual, forecast, resources and productivity trends, and risks, to the project manager and line managers in a timely manner.
The role:
- Leading the Project Planning and Controlling function for the projects in HV Service UK.
- Support Operations Manager and Project Managers in planning, scheduling and control.
- Development of a comprehensive project plan during tender and execution as per scope. Establish project schedule, man-hour budget and monitor its progress.
- Develop and maintain integrated role/resource loaded baseline and current schedule for better cost forecasting.
- Routinely analyse, evaluate and forecast the current project status against the baseline schedule.
- Assess the impacts of design or construction changes to the schedule.
- Evaluate the actual position of the project, compare the actual state with the desired state, and takes corrective actions if required.
- Contributing to the on-time delivery of the project. Driving collaboration between the partners, stakeholders and customers.
- Actively monitoring and controlling the project progress using Hitachi Energy policies and best practices to ensure that customer requirements are completed on time and in accordance with the contract.
- Understand and apply project planning and execution practices in accordance with internal project control standard procedures/instructions.

- Conduct site visits to verify progress and identify any potential and critical issues.
- Work with the teams to recommend recovery plans and update the schedule and budget accordingly.
- Notify project team of any deviation or scheduling issues. Issue progress reports, program updates and productivity data on a regular basis and as requested by customers and stakeholders.

Your background
- Knowledge of MS Project and Primavera P6.
- Certification or further education like PMI-PMP is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and pronounced customer orientation as well as structured working methods and ability to work in a team.
- Experience working with project management plans (PMP) and plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E).
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
- Ability to develop, maintain and update detailed schedules, ensure adherence to quality standards, create reports and provide analysis using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
