As a Project Manager, the focus for this role is to lead the execution of medium/large projects/orders with medium/high complexity, from a commercial and technical perspective, and ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with company procedures, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, cost/profitability targets, and scheduling targets.
Your Responsibility:
- You will be executing the projects as per contract scope, scheduling, and contractual conditions, reviewing the contract received from sales and understanding terms & conditions of project contracts, including awareness of risks of negative impact on margin, performance, and risk factors and planning, monitoring, and controlling the project activities (Scope, Time and Cost) proactively including project handover, execution planning, monitoring and control activities to accomplish the project goals.
- Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy policies. Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization.
- Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow. Identifies, qualifies, quantifies, and manages risk, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Captures, analyses, and shares lessons learned throughout the project.
- Perform contract review according to appropriate process.
- Conduct project/order kick-off meeting with sales, relevant departments, and customer. Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
- Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and contractual agreements.
- Coordinates with Supply Chain Management (including overseas factories), and successfully procures required services, materials, and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers.
- Supports Supply Chain Management in negotiations, claims and project changes.
- Acts as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
- You will prepare and submit project progress report to customer as per contractual requirements.
- You will closely monitor, document change requests from customer related to project scope and getting approvals for time extension, additional cost etc.
- Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Review of equipment drawings and overall documentation pertinent to the project like reports, schedules, transmittals, etc (including provision of).
- Interact with and support the execution team and factories on overall technical issues, including FAT.
- Local and overseas travel might be required.

Your background:
- You hold bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience through Project Management in HV Electrical industry or similar.
- Skills in the substation segment and knowledge about transmission and distribution products are an advantage.
- Good knowledge of drawings (primary/schematics) for HV products.
- Good knowledge of applicable IEC and AS Standards.
- Strong and demonstrated experience in management of scope, cost, schedules, and vendor/subcontractors.
- Solid experience in managing orders, ideally managing complex orders and different contractual types and experience in coordinating multiple key stakeholders/teams in remote locations.
- Solid computer skills including SAP (highly preferable), MS project, Outlook, Visio and demonstrated commercial understanding (contract management)
- Proactive and highly organized and influencing and Engaging skills to achieve notable outcomes.
- Communicative, Good Inter-personal communication, having ownership and showing leadership capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Project Management Certificate is an advantage (or keen to pursue PMI certification - Hitachi Energy will support your certification).
- Australian residency or Citizenship required.
