The Opportunity:

(Act as the responsible project engineering specialist for product line, power transformers including high design complexity. Role may involve Design lead on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. Complete design assignments efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Produce or modify engineering deliverables for equipment, systems or installations for high complexity engineering assignments. Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc.

How you'll make an impact:

  • You will take technical oversight of work within own area of responsibility, hold regular progress reviews, identify and manage technical issues that occur, define operating guidelines and development strategies for direct reports providing them with technical guidance, ensure implementing engineering process to create complex project order designs and documents, keeping project cost in mind while fully aligning with customer specifications.
  • You will approve design deliverables and act as the technical lead for a design discipline with the client for high complexity designs, independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, use advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of science and disciplines to complete assignments, review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance, review and verify designs (i.e. the checking and approval) by presenting the design to the responsible engineer for approval.
  • You will adjust design as necessary based on output of design reviews and design verification, plan participate and lead design reviews, joint inspections while guiding other functions such as Manufacturing and Quality, perform Troubleshooting, analyzing failures, prepare and implement RCA actions.
  • You will provide technical support to SCM for vendor development and evaluation, ensure completion of risk assessments and opportunity assessments (e.g. variation orders and claims) and implementation of resulting actions across projects, ensure operation of process to gather and share technical knowledge within the engineering team.
  • You will initiate and drive continuous improvement activities, develop, implement and improves relevant process, policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the Engineering function, ensure local procedures align with company policies, processes and procedures and are correctly implemented.

Your background:

  • You hold bachelor's / master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Industry experience of leading an engineering team responsible for electrical / mechanical project engineering applied to Power Transformers including special insulating fluids is preferred.
  • Working experience of leading transformer cost optimization and competitiveness improvement projects will be preferred.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and productivity tools (SAP, engineering design tools, PLM - product lifecycle management) will be preferred.
  • Exposure to engineering quality improvement tools such as Statistical analysis of NCs, design and test parameters, Six Sigma tools, managing customer complaints will be an added plus.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
