As a master thesis worker on the HVDC Control & Protection System Solutions team, you will be part of the technology & solutions development business R&D organization at HVDC, Hitachi Energy Ludvika Sweden. HVDC technology has been on the market for 60 years and is a key enabler of renewable energy integration, facilitating future energy transitions for a more sustainable future.

Your responsibilities

  • Power transformers play a critical role in electrical systems, and their proper operation directly impacts system reliability.
  • This method detects faults by comparing winding impedance to normal values. This serves as backup protection for the transformer's main protection system, improving reliability. impedance protection is one method for detecting transformer winding faults.
  • Transformer winding faults are common and can cause significant damage if not identified early on as a result, detecting the transformer winding short circuit is one of the most important objectives in power transformers.
  • Applying impedance protection to detect transformer winding faults either in SIL or HIL concept.
  • Using impedance protection to detect transformer winding faults SIL or HIL concept.
  • Developing a setting philosophy for impedance protection using transformer parameters.

Your background

  • You are pursuing a master's degree in Sweden, in the areas of electrical or embedded system's engineering.
  • Knowledge on power system protections, and power system studie's.
  • Knowledge on IOT tools or IEC communication protocols, and EMTDC study tools is advantageous.
  • You have an inner drive, ability to get things done and problem-solving skills.
  • You possess strong motivation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to complete tasks.
  • Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken.
