Internship in applied simulations 80 - 100% (f/m/d)

Zurich, Switzerland

The opportunity

The design of high voltage (HV) devices, such as gas circuit breakers (CB), requires - among others - the prediction of the dielectric withstand as well as switching performance. The R&D activities in the area of gas circuit breakers are enhanced by various computer-aided-engineering tools and IT technologies. The aim of the internship is to carry out 2D and 3D CFD simulations, perform experimental data post-processing and analysis using in-house tools in order to improve the accuracy of the simulations. The superior goal is the achievement of high-end quality and performance of the final product. Apart from that, a partial focus will be also on thermal-fluid-dynamic simulations to evaluate the performances of a GCB during operation under steady state and transient electrical loads. The simulations will be carried out with the software Ansys Maxwell and Fluent.
