Hitachi Energy is seeking a Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Technician on either 2nd, 3rd, or Weekend Shift at our Jefferson City, MO location. In this position, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of HSSE professionals to foster a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment. You will work closely with operations and other staff to mitigate risks, support improvement initiatives, meet factory goals, and ensure compliance with corporate, customer, and regulatory standards.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support supervisors and managers in assigned areas/shifts to achieve outstanding HSE performance.
- Ensure the organization complies with all relevant corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and implementing HSE management systems.
- Conduct HSE audits and inspections.
- Aid in investigations and root cause analysis.
- Follow up on improvement actions to ensure their completion and effectiveness.
- Report on incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective measures to your assigned areas.
- Participate in daily meetings.
- Complete daily handovers to peers at shift changes.
- Provide suggestions for enhancing HSE programs, procedures, and training materials.
- Organize activities to raise employee and supervisor awareness, boost participation, and encourage safe behaviors.
- Assist in HSE strategic planning to advance the organization.

Your Background:
- Two years of full-time HSE-related experience or five years in heavy manufacturing with proven HSE involvement.
- Must have work authorization to be employed by Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities.
- Self-motivated and well-organized.
- Open to attending professional development training both internally and externally.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and digital solutions.
- Team-oriented and approachable.
- Willing to travel up to 10%.
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HSE or a related discipline.
- Possession of any HSE-related certification (e.g., CHHM, ASP, CIH).
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs and cultural change initiatives.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Proficiency with digital management tools.
- Experience working with a represented workforce.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
