The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a GPG Application Engineer - Power Conversion for its Turgi, Switzerland location. Your main task will be to support HBUs Sales in building long term customer relationships, identifying and developing sales opportunities. You will represent Application Engineering in various pre-tender and tender teams managing technical solutions, customer needs, promote customer understanding and awareness of overall Grid Intertie and Rail solutions, including both the existing portfolio, new technical solutions and segments as per GPQSS strategy for market growth. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with representatives in GPG, HBUs and GCoC during the entire sales process. As Senior Application Engineer, you will ensure timely, optimized, cost-effective solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures and safety guidelines.

How you'll make an impact
- Technical Solutions: Accountable for the technical solution in pre-tender
- Customer Relationships: Establish and maintain long-term relationships with customers and key external stakeholders to understand their needs and promote awareness of full product/systems/services offerings
- Collaboration: Work closely with HBUs to leverage relationships and the Hitachi Energy portfolio throughout the sales process
- Engineering Tools: Utilize related engineering tools and software required to accomplish assigned tasks including system design, calculations, analysis, and simulations (PSSE, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB, among others)
- Team Development: Build and support the GPQSS team for the development of competencies and employees in GPG, GCoCs and HBUs.
- Market Communications: Support and participate in market communications such as seminars, conference events, and publications
- Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (other languages are a plus)
- Travel: Availability to travel up to 20%
Your background
- Experience: first working experience and technical know-how in Power Conversion and use of engineering tools (PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB, among others)
- Leadership: project management experience and ability to work with multiple key stakeholders
- Data Management: understanding of data management principles and practices
- Technical Skills: proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
- Problem-Solving: analytical and problem-solving skills
- Certifications: relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar are a plus
