The opportunity

Our team, chartered by both HR and Technology, consists of approximately 10 people, led by our Global Head of Sustainability, who is a member of the Management Team of Hitachi Energy. We are working closely with the Management, BU, region and Functional Area sustainability teams, HSE managers, product, marketing and communication managers and other stakeholders, in order to drive and implement our company's sustainability agenda. We share a common vision for our company, outlined in our Sustainability Strategy 2030, and work towards it with a high energy, passion, commitment and enthusiasm for the topic. The Sustainability Reporting Specialist is responsible to support the Global Sustainability Reporting Manager in the planning, coordination and implementation of the overall corporate Sustainability Reporting. The role reports into the Global Sustainability Reporting Manager and manages data collection, consolidation and analysis in relation to the annual and on-demand internal and external Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainability disclosures, in accordance with legislative requirements, industry trends, and international reporting frameworks.

How you'll make an impact

  • Project manage the report preparation, ensuring operational coordination of key functions such as HR, Integrity, Procurement, Finance, Communications etc.
  • Coordinate the report delivery, working closely with relevant internal stakeholders, external agencies and third party audit assurance firms where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the collection of ESG quantitative data and qualitative narrative to be used in the annual Sustainability Report
  • Support country and functional teams in developing reporting tools, methodologies and controls, enhance overall maturity of the reporting process, data assurance and accuracy, in line with auditing best practices
  • Oversee the reporting control framework, ensuring adherence to the reporting policy, leading implementation and reviews of central and BU / Functional area level control
  • Analyze and investigate key issues, trends and gaps in the sustainability reporting program and develop improved processes
  • Apply and monitor global reporting standards and industry best practices including CSRD, EU Taxonomy, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), SASB, TCFD, EcoVadis and CDP
  • Proactively stay abreast of new or upcoming regulatory developments, integrate those in the reporting process, as well as provide technical guidance and recommendation to all levels of management on complex disclosure & transparency topics
  • Train and coordinate the work of support personnel in the area of assignment

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Sustainability of Environmental Science, Economics, Business, Finance or Risk Management
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Sustainability-reporting related field, ideally within an international publicly listed company. Previous experience in the Energy industry is a plus
  • Solid understanding and experience with reporting and disclosure processes (ideally Sustainability-reporting), in the forms of internal and external reports, ratings and other requirements
  • Strong analytical skillset and the ability to perform quantitative tasks with speed and accuracy
  • Proven track record of successfully coordinating and leading global cross-functional projects
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills developed through previously work in a global organization
  • True passion for sustainability, a strong work ethic, and the eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken; any additional languages are considered an advantage
