Role overview
Culture and leadership
- Develops, and implements functional (i.e., HSE) learning and cultural development activities, in alignment with the Hitachi Energy's HSE strategy, including but not limited to the Hitachi Energy's HSE cultural assessments.
- Drives functional cultural transformation initiatives across Hitachi Energy, in close collaboration with the Business Units with a hands-on approach that engages shop floor employees and front-line leaders.
- Drives transformation initiatives linked to Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles - learning from successes and failures by instilling an open and transparent reporting environment in HSE.
- Guides, coaches, and advises on transformational HSE programs to focus on a culture of LIFE (Life-changing Injury and Fatality Elimination).

Communication and learnings
- Builds functional competence and capacity through innovative HSE cultural assessment solutions to ensure that HSE commitments, standards, processes, and procedures are communicated, implemented, and measured throughout the company value chain.
- Partners and collaborates with the Business Units to drive learning and best practices to fully integrate the HOP principles in HSE.
Digitalization and analytics
- Contributes to Hitachi Energy's acceleration in its HSE transformation by identifying, assessing, and reporting on global emerging HSE trends related to Human Performance.
- Supports digital innovation initiatives in Human Performance, new trends and forays to help advance and transform HSE through emerging digital trends.
Operations and risk management
- Contributes to the continual improvement of Hitachi Energy's HSE Operating System (HSE-OS) standards to support Hitachi Energy's ambition for world-class HSE performance.
- Supports the implementation of the HSE-OS standards, expectations and learning mechanisms to improve Hitachi Energy's HSE performance for frontline operations teams.
Governance and competency
- Benchmarks current HSE processes and culture assessment and improvement mechanisms with internal and external best practices and challenges status quo at all levels.
- Influences key stakeholders to accept new practices and innovative approaches, and ability to communicate and influence senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, or organizational development
- 8+ years of relevant global HSE experience, preferably in manufacturing
- 3+ years of practical Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) experience implementing the principles of HOP to drive cultural change in an international manufacturing or project environment.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Problem solving and initiative-taking and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills to work in a complex and global organization.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, business-oriented, and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
- Global travel up to 50%
- Capable of working autonomously with remote and global teams and delivering in complex working environments and across multiple time zones (flexible working hours when required).
Preferred
- Experience with industrial and organizational psychology
- Experience and/or familiarity with ISO-45001 & ISO-14001
- Ability to work within and support matrixed global leadership and functional teams
