Your responsibilities:
- You will report to a Senior Legal Counsel or to the Head of Legal.
- You will support Hitachi Energy companies in China (HE China) to compliance with all requirements of data protection (including personal data protection and cybersecurity, etc.) from group, local law and all other applicable laws and regulations.
- You will formulate data protection strategies of HE China, establish and improve local data protection system.
- Identify compliance risks of HE China's data security, optimize and improve the data compliance regulations and rules, data compliance processes, data compliance measures and protocols of HE China.
- You be responsible for daily legal support to the data protection work of HE China, including but not limited to monitoring and responding to data security incidents, legal risk assessment for cross-border data transfer, personal information protection impact assessment, etc.
- You be responsible or as key coordinator for data protection compliance projects, personal information processing compliance audits and other special projects; and coordinate the participation of HR, IT, Security, other functions and businesses in aforementioned projects.
- You localize and implement global data compliance policies in China, as well as respond to global request and various survey regarding data compliance matters.
- You will provide legal advice on data protection matters.
- You will support communication with authorities for HE China relating to data protection.
- You will monitor the development trends of data security laws and regulations, industry requirements and etc.
- You be responsible for training and sharing of relevant laws, regulations and company policies in terms of data protection.
- You will provide legal support and trainings to multiple business units and functions as may be assigned and adjusted relating to contract review and drafting, corporate governance, resolutions of disputes, foreign investment, M&A, etc.

Your background:
- Bachelor of Law degree from a reputable law school in China, a Master of Law degree from a reputable law school abroad or a JD from a reputable law school abroad will be a plus.
- More than 8 years post qualification experience practicing corporate law, contract law, and/or data protection law either at reputable foreign or Chinese law firms or in major MNCs.
- Fluent English and Chinese language skills.
