General information
We are looking for a Country Tax Manager for Hitachi Energy's UK and Irish legal entities.
You will be responsible for providing tax advisory services to our different businesses related to international and domestic projects and could be involved in local M&A, restructuring as well as integration projects. Furthermore, you will take care of the quarterly tax accounting and reporting activities (incl. internal controls). You will advise and support tax team of Common Shared Services on tax compliance questions.
In addition, you will support our in-house Transfer Pricing practice team whereby the focus lies on retrieving and analysing the data so that our CoE can prepare the UK and Irish TP documentation Local File for Hitachi Energy UK/ Ireland.

You will be first and main contact person to represent Hitachi Energy towards the UK/ Irish tax authorities and will be expected to manage tax audits and coordinate with local tax advisors.
You should be based in UK, preferably greater Birmingham area. This is a hybrid role where partly working from your home office is also possible.
We are looking for a diligent personality, with strong communication skills. You should work precise and feel comfortable working in cross-cultural teams, both at local and international level.
Your responsibilities
- Provide tax advisory services to local businesses (international/ cross-border projects).
- Support local businesses and Common Shared Services to assure tax compliance (CIT, WHT, VAT, etc.).
- Support on M&A projects and related integration activities as well as other restructuring projects or tax planning opportunities
- Monitor transactions from tax risk perspective and provide corresponding input for tax accounting and reporting.
- Maintain the tax related internal controls.
- Ensure that Group Transfer Pricing policies are properly followed by Hitachi Energy UK and Ireland. Support the Global TP practice team to ensure that Transfer Pricing documentation is in place and in line with local requirements
- Manage Corporate Income Tax/ Transfer Pricing audits and disputes in UK and Ireland. Liaise with tax authorities as required and coordinate with local tax advisors.
Your background
- Master's degree in Law or Economics
- Approx. 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in national and international taxes, either as in-house tax manager or as external advisor
- Sound knowledge of UK tax law and international tax law
- Understanding of OECD TP rules and local Transfer Pricing requirements
- Good skills with MS Excel
- Skills with other data analytic tools (Alteryx, Power BI, etc) are a plus
- Problem solver attitude, solution/result driven
