As the Sr. R&D Manager , you will support the R&D Director in  building and leading the research and development team, as well as establishing the necessary infrastructure to drive innovation and scientific excellence. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our organization and make a significant impact on the healthcare industry.

You Will:

  • Lead the development of all new Rx projects from conception through scale-up to meet objectives for feasibility assessment, technical formulation, sensory validation, analytical testing, and shelf life evaluation.
  • Manage the development of all new non-Rx projects and reformulations as it relates to fragrance and base development, 3rd party product safety testing & claims support, stability testing and scale-up
  • Identify new product opportunities and formats that align with the hims & hers brand to push the limits of innovation and provide our customers with a best in class product offering
  • Manage relationships with external partners as it relates to technology expansion, analytical product testing, claims support and new format formula development to meet the demands of the business and ensure project success
  • Oversee the tech transfer of formulas from R&D experimental batches to production scale-up batches for tablets, topicals, gummies and new formats
  • Create clear processing instructions compounding processes such as weighing, mixing, blending , tableting and pressing 
  • Partner with Quality to build out SOP’s for pharmaceutical compounding best practices and troubleshoot post-production product issues
  • Partner with OPS to ensure products are scaled up and launched successfully as well as optimize formulas to increase output to support customer demand
  • Partner with OPS & Engineering teams to provide input on new equipment purchases
  • Troubleshoot formula and equipment issues in a production like setting and identify effective solutions for both new and existing products
  • Manage and train a team of R&D Managers and Jr. Product Developers across

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, food science, food engineering, microbiology, chemistry, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in R&D and/ Product Development/ Process development , with a minimum of 4-6 years hands-on experience in benchtop development of consumable products in the pharmaceutical , or nutraceutical and  food industry.  
  • Must have 2-3 years prior managerial experience
  • Experience working cross functionally to identify and execute product improvement and consistency through reformulations and maintenance initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and environments

Conditions of Employment: 

  • This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
  • This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
  • Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.

 

Outlined below is a reasonable estimate of H&H’s compensation range for this role for US-based candidates. If you're based outside of the US, your recruiter will be able to provide you with an estimated salary range for your location.

The actual amount will take into account a range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and location. H&H also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that may include an equity grant.

$140,000$160,000 USD
