Sr. Software Quality Engineering Manager

What's the role?

The Senior Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of quality and delivering automotive-grade software to multiple customers. This individual will own the quality vision and roadmap for HERE Navigation Software and its variants, leading a team of quality and test engineers to achieve high standards of software quality. The manager will also leverage synergies with other products, such as SDK and WeGo, to maximize portfolio value.

 

About the Team:

Navigation goes beyond mere A to B routing and provides best in class solutions that solve complex routing problems for cars, trucks, fleets etc.  The HERE Navigation Quality team will become the centre of excellence for Navigation SW quality, sustaining competitiveness of the core asset (location data), along side building high quality differentiating products and features that further increase HERE’s competitive position, and demonstrate thought leadership in the Navigation space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and align a compelling quality strategy for the navigation software portfolio, ensuring market and customer adoption.
  • Execute on the quality strategy by defining quality objectives and KPIs in alignment with product and engineering, by implementing quality management systems and procedures
  • Engage with customers and partners, incorporating feedback and market insights to prioritize quality requirements, such as bug resolution SLAs and A-SPICE compliance.
  • Oversee the adoption of industry best practices, with a focus on automation, continuous improvement, and high business value delivery.
  • Develop deep understanding of HERE’s business model and objectives, influencing product strategy as necessary and be a champion for quality
  • Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure timely and effective development and release of features.
  • Ensure product releases meet quality standards through test planning, execution, and issue tracking.
  • Build and manage a geographically diverse team of high-performing quality and test engineers.
  • Provide regular direction, mentoring, and coaching to the quality assurance teams.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, aligning with leadership as needed.

Who are you?

We are seeking a candidate with a balanced approach, combining deep industry knowledge with a forward-thinking mindset. The ideal candidate will understand the complexities of automotive software but will not be limited by traditional methods. We are looking for someone with a modern approach to quality, focusing on innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.

 

  • Around 12 years of related experience with around 7 years of experience leading and building quality teams, with a proven track record of delivering software for end users in automotive and/ other embedded domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality initiatives, translating customer requirements into a robust quality strategy. Experience in engaging with customers, ensuring their needs are met with a forward-thinking quality approach.
  • Ability to influence team culture, resolve conflict and drive consensus to focus on quality
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment within a matrix organization with multiple product dependencies, delivering business impact.
  • Strong background in testing, ideally with in-depth knowledge of how to test integrated software in the automotive space.
  • Experience with complex test automation solutions, scripting and / or modern programming languages and Agile, DevOps and CI/CD Methodologies would be beneficial
  • Good understanding of JIRA / Zephyr and Gitlab is beneficial
  • Understanding of automotive quality standards (e.g., ISTQB, A-SPICE) is an added advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to manage teams remotely and navigate cross-functional discussions.
  • Strong people management skills, with the confidence to push back when necessary to overcome challenges.
