The Project Manager will act as a key point of contact, ensuring that projects meet customer requirements, stay within budget, and adhere to timelines. Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans for map-making and software solution projects, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and business objectives.
- Lead project execution for German automotive clients in with Korean and Japanese suppliers, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and customization of mapping and software solutions, ensuring adherence to regional regulations and standards.
Cross-functional Coordination:
- Coordinate between OEM, suppliers, internal engineering, product development, quality assurance, and sales teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Serve as the key point of contact for cross-functional teams, suppliers and customers, ensuring clear communication of project goals, status, and changes.
- Ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and understood by all stakeholders, including technical teams and suppliers in Korea and Japan.
Customer Engagement:
- Engage directly with automotive OEMs, suppliers, and other key stakeholders in the Korean and Japanese markets to ensure project alignment with customer needs.
- Manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle, addressing any concerns, changes, or issues as they arise.
- Conduct regular progress meetings with customers, providing detailed updates on project status, timelines, and any upcoming changes or developments.
Market-Specific Adaptation:
- Ensure that all solutions are adapted to meet the specific legal, cultural, and technical requirements of the Korean and Japanese automotive markets.
- Stay updated on market trends, regional automotive regulations, and technological advancements in map-making and navigation software for connected and autonomous vehicles in Korea and Japan.
Risk & Issue Management:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Manage and resolve any issues that arise during project implementation, coordinating with technical teams to resolve roadblocks quickly.
- Ensure that any changes to project scope are managed effectively through change management processes.
Performance Tracking & Reporting:
- Monitor project performance against key milestones, deliverables, and budget constraints, ensuring that targets are met.
- Track and report on project progress to internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring transparency and alignment at all stages of the project.
- Document lessons learned and develop best practices for future projects.
Cultural & Regional Expertise:
- Use in-depth knowledge of business culture in Korea and Japan to facilitate effective communication and collaboration with customers.
- Navigate regional nuances in the automotive industry, ensuring that projects respect local business customs and expectations.
Who are you?
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5+ years of project management experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on map-making, navigation systems, or software solutions.
- Proven experience managing projects for automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in the Korean and/or Japanese markets.
- Strong track record of delivering technical projects on time and within budget, with an emphasis on software and digital mapping technologies.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
- Languages:
- Fluency in Korean or Japanese is required. Proficiency in both languages is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in English is required for internal communication.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of automotive software development, map-making technologies, and navigation systems.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Familiarity with the unique business environments and regulatory frameworks of the Korean and Japanese automotive markets.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying risks and managing project constraints.
- Experience working with digital maps, connected vehicle technologies, or autonomous driving systems.
- Knowledge of regional automotive standards and regulations in Korea and Japan.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies for managing technical projects.
