Position Summary: Healthfirst is looking for a first or second-year law student interested in gaining exposure to the healthcare system and the day-to-day operations of an in-house legal department. This is Full time 40 hrs per week; Hybrid-NY opportunity in office three days per week. Compensation is listed below as the salaried equivalent, but this is an hourly fixed term internship paying $25/hr.

Responsibilities:
This role will focus primarily on provider and vendor contract drafting, corporate governance, evidence collection for litigation and pre-litigation disputes, as well as administrative law hearing preparation and appearances. The legal intern will assist and work directly with the in-house Attorneys while maintaining confidentiality and the highest ethical standards in all aspects of work. This role will provide exposure to the fast-paced functioning of a corporate legal department, diverse and sophisticated cutting-edge legal issues and hands on advocacy before Administrative Law Judges.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in Healthcare, Not-For-Profit (NFP) law, corporate law, and Litigation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be actively enrolled in law school with a strong academic record
- Must be able to commit 20-30 hours per week in office at 100 Church Street in Downtown Manhattan three days per week
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills as well as strong writing ability, including legal drafting skills.

Hiring Range:
- Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000
- All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
