Healthfirst's 2025 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 2, 2025. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience, that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. The Healthfirst Delivery Systems Engagement Department manages an overall relationship with contracted health systems, negotiates contacts and collaborates with providers on advancement of Value-Based Reimbursement (VBR) delivery model. The team stays current on industry and business trends, reviews regulatory changes and best practices, and makes informed recommendations on VBR and quality initiatives to help providers to maximize the value of Healthfirst contracts and improve quality of care for our members. The department works closely with teams across the company to help grow Healthfirst membership and advises the hospitals how to achieve top performance in value-based delivery model. The team ensures health systems are compliant with all Healthfirst contracts and State and Federal regulations while providing high quality care to Healthfirst Medicaid and Medicare members.
Over their ten weeks with Healthfirst, the Delivery System Engagement Intern will support projects focused on the strategic priorities of the department, which include Network Growth, Medicaid recertification, Right Member Right Plan processes, Quality and Performance Improvement, Account Receivable Resolution, and improving Health Equity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The project may include any of the following tasks:
- Develop and implement project workplans and set milestones to measure success
- Identify relevant analyses to support projects and collaborate with various Analytics teams
- Identify actionable insights from data analytics
- Work with partners to research underlying issues driving health outcomes
- Participate in strategic planning sessions
- Conduct CMS and State regulations review
- Conduct interviews of internal and external stakeholders
- Develop recommendations for future Healthfirst initiatives and priorities
- Present recommendations to internal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or a Ph.D. candidate (or working towards)
- Pursuing a business or a healthcare administration degree
- Project Management Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- A student in a graduate program in an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.
- Will not require sponsorship for employment
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school
Hiring Range:
- Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000
- All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.

The hiring range is defined as the lowest and highest salaries that Healthfirst in "good faith" would pay to a new hire, or for a job promotion, or transfer into this role.
