Headway

Director, Product Management - Trust (Security & Privacy)

Remote

Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.

Headway was founded in 2019. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software and have served over 1 million patients. We’re a Series D company with over $325m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation.

About the role:

We’re looking for a PM Director to shape our internal and external efforts to grow our customers’ Trust in Headway. Initially, Trust at Headway is focused on security and privacy for all of Headway’s customers - therapists, patients, and payers (ex: insurance companies and health systems).

What you’ll do at Headway:

  • Set the vision for Trust: Lead collaborative efforts to define a vision, strategy, and roadmap for software engineering efforts focused on security and privacy of our customers.
  • Build New Trust-Centered Products: Build customer-facing features and experiences that improve our customers’ security and privacy when engaging on the Headway platform. This could include:
    • Identity, access, and permissioning solutions that enable therapists, patients, and enterprises to use Headway for more of their workflows.
    • Customer Trust center that showcases to therapists and patients how we honor their transparency and autonomy when entrusting Headway with their sensitive data, such as Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Partner with Product Leaders on New Products: Headway has many new product launches on the horizon that will transform the industry and have a rich data component. You will be the lead partner on some of our most innovative project launches given our ambitious data strategy.
  • Make the safe way, the easy way: Build platform components, features, and tooling for internal teams so that it’s seamless to build with Trust as a default. This could include:
    • Unified B2C and B2B authentication and authorization strategy across our production environment that’s universally adopted by teams entrusted with access to sensitive customers.
    • Modular building blocks and tooling that enable least privilege access to PHI and PII data.
    • 0 to 1 on data infrastructure, audit logging, and tooling needs for detection & responding to suspicious events and anomalies.
  • Protect Headway’s most sensitive data: In addition to direct customer feedback, you’ll partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Operations, Growth, and Customer Support to ensure that we understand needs around data and privacy in our products, services, and platforms. This could include:
    • Defining an unified approach to safeguarding PHI and PII access that’s consistent with regulatory, compliance, and customer expectations.
    • Translating customer, business, and regulatory trust needs into clear requirements and tradeoffs that are prioritized and contextualized for the relevant engineering teams.
    • Collaborating with design, product marketing, and research on user interface designs relating to Trust features and experiences.

You’ll be great for this role if you:

  • Have 0 -> 1 product experience: You have ~7+ years of experience as a product manager, with 2+ of those years building trust products.
  • Data driven mindset: You enjoy building technically complex, scalable solutions.
  • Thrive in ambiguity: You love tackling ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment with an optimistic and energizing attitude.
  • Appreciate quality: You have an exceptionally high bar for building incredible experiences.
  • Innovation at Scale: You seek opportunities to lead the industry in implementing the latest security and privacy technologies.
  • Results driven: You care deeply about creating impact and driving results for Headway’s business.
  • Mission driven: You are motivated by Headway’s mission, increasing access to high quality mental health care.
