Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ), a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York City, seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned HR Onboarding Coordinator to join our HR department.

The HR On-Boarding Coordinator will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in HCZ's human resources department, leveraging a blend of competencies including keen attention to detail, strong presentation skills, and exceptional interpersonal abilities. Responsible for conducting thorough background checks and verifying credentials, this role ensures the integrity and reliability of HCZ's workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of related experience is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

What you'll do

  • Prepare comprehensive onboarding files for new hires, ensuring all necessary documents and information are organized and readily available to facilitate a smooth and efficient onboarding process.
  • Organize orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with company policies, procedures, and culture.
  • Responsible for conducting thorough background checks and verifying credentials, this role ensures the integrity and reliability of HCZ's workforce.
  • Ensure all required documents are acquired and coordinate seamlessly with HR Generalists.
  • Assisting new hires with onboarding compliance, as well as benefits enrollment.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Conduct verifications of credentials for incoming staff in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Accurately enter employee data into the HRIS to maintain up-to-date and organized records of HCZ's workforce.
  • Verify I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Schedule

  • This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days in the office per week.
