The Summer 2025 Digital Marketing Intern position at Hachette Book Group's Workman Running Press Group imprint offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in the publishing industry to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing. This internship is designed for those who want to learn about the lifecycle of a book and explore various aspects of digital marketing within the publishing sector.
 
Program dates: June 2nd, 2025 – End date: August 7th, 2025
 
Location: This position will be based in our NY office on a three-day per week hybrid schedule. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm
 
Pay rate: $16.50/hour
 
As a Digital Marketing Intern, you will support the Digital Marketing team across several imprints, including Workman, Workman Kids, Artisan, and Black Dog & Leventhal. This role will provide insight into various industry niches and responsibilities, allowing you to work closely with experienced professionals. Interns will have the chance to own day-to-day tasks, assist with special projects, and participate in departmental meetings. To enhance the internship experience, Hachette Book Group offers educational sessions featuring speakers from different departments, as well as networking and career development opportunities.
 
Qualifications
  • Interest in digital marketing with an emphasis on email marketing, digital advertising, and light digital asset creation.
  • Interest in exploring a diverse range of adult and children nonfiction.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Passion for producing social media content (ex. filming and editing videos, creating graphics).
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Capcut, and Canva a plus.
  • Experience with a common ESP like Mailchimp, Braze also a plus (internships count!).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • An excitement for participating in and contributing to a fun, vibrant work environment with great company culture.
Responsibilities include
  • Assist with newsletter campaigns, including copywriting, builds, and ideation.
  • Assist with content creation for paid social campaigns and other related projects including social media assets, scripting for videos, and copywriting for digital ads.
  • Assist in building online stores for ecommerce promotions.
  • Assist in monthly reporting for Digital Marketing.
  • Attend department meetings and actively contribute ideas.
