Sales Manager, Children’s Sales

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager to join our Children’s Sales Team. This position will work closely with the Executive Director, Children’s Sales and our Children’s national account managers to help increase sales and maximize backlist opportunities each season. This position will be essential in communication and collaboration between sales and the publishers. This is a NYC-based opportunity, with a hybrid office working schedule (two in-office days a week.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creating and analyzing sales reports for frontlist, backlist and reorder opportunities.
  • Goal setting based on current marketplace and publisher expectations.
  • Communication with reps, publishers, and inventory.
  • Ongoing sales and merchandising discussions with reps and publishers.
  • Working with inventory to anticipate stock needs.
  • Leading title discussions in meetings with staff, marketing departments, and salespeople based in NY and the Field.
  • Assisting with planning agendas and running various meetings.
  • Liaising between publisher and reps for material requests and other general questions.
  • Additional responsibilities to help support the children’s sales team as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years prior sales or publishing experience with a working knowledge of key accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, effectively problem solve, and react quickly to changes.
  • Strong sales analysis and presentation skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, with a specific focus on Excel
  • Solid understanding of the entire publishing industry and process.
  • Experience in children’s publishing a plus

The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
