SUMMARY:
Workman Publishing and Artisan Books are hiring a Marketing Manager to oversee key title marketing campaigns with a focus on strategically collaborating with their publicity counterparts and with an eye towards driving sales. This is a highly collaborative role, reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Digital Content, and working closely with key stakeholders across the marketing & publicity department, company, and sales department.
The ideal candidate will be highly results oriented, with experience in marketing efforts such as preorder campaigns, social media strategies, influencer marketing, and direct to consumer efforts. We’re looking for a creative and inspiring team member with a passion for lifestyle, illustrated, nonfiction publishing and gift products. This person should be excited to work on a wide variety of projects, from nonfiction titles by leading experts to America’s bestselling cat and dog calendars.

This is a NYC based role. Effective in January 2025, HBG’s hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Brainstorm, draft, and independently execute marketing plans for key frontlist and backlist Workman, Artisan, and Black Dog & Leventhal titles and brands, including preorder campaigns, brand partnerships, influencer campaigns, trade advertising and outreach, etc.
- Consult on proposed ad plans, budgets, digital advertising opportunities, messaging, etc.
- Collaborate with publicity and the author's team to strategize book launch with consideration of the author's social media platform, influencer relationships, and brand connections
- Seek out third-party partners; build partnership pitch lists; obtain products for giveaways; coordinate content collaborations, discount code exchanges, collaborative influencer mailings, and more
- Request creation of ads and sales materials, working with Creative Services and Digital Marketing team
- Communicate detailed campaign plans and updates internally to sales teams to be referenced at and after publication both via email and presenting in meetings
- Craft bookseller letters, newsletter and social media copy, ad copy, partnership pitches, etc.
- Collaborate with Creative Services and Creative Director on Amazon A+ detail graphics
- Maintain title metadata and Edelweiss information, including update keywords and Comparative Titles
- Communicates to both authors and internal clients thoughtful marketing, advertising, and sales updates and analyses leading up to, during, and after publication
- Manage author participation in key conferences and trade shows; attending select events as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Minimum of three years of progressive marketing experience in book publishing
• Proficiency with social media platforms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Proficiency with Canva/InDesign experience is a plus
• Proficiency with WordPress is a plus
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Experience presenting in front of groups including internal meetings and with outside clients
• Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work and demonstrate good follow-up and follow-through.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

The compensation for this position is $65,000-70,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
