SUMMARY:
Little, Brown, a division of Hachette Book Group, is seeking an experienced and passionate Associate Director/Director of Marketing to join our team. This individual would market titles across the Little, Brown list, executing campaigns or nearly every category of book, from romantasy, mystery, and horror to literary fiction and conversation-sparking works of nonfiction.
The role is NYC-based and reports into the Senior Director of Marketing. HBG's current hybrid working model is three days in the office per week. Title and salary commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with authors and agents, as well as editorial and publicity, on approximately 20-25 book campaigns a year
- Execute marketing campaigns for new hardcover titles from established and debut authors and optimize campaigns for select paperback publications
- Communicate directly with authors and agents to develop, present, and execute marketing and promotional plans
- Work with authors to maximize campaign effectiveness including increasing social media platforms and working collaboratively to build author brands
- Actively participates in and leads internal meetings as needed, as well as meetings with authors, agents, and sales
- Incorporate insights and data about available audiences for each book that we publish and ways to reach them through advertising, promotion and social media while also keeping up-to-date on new platforms and marketing methods
- Manage promotion plans and budgets for each title campaign
- Pitch organizations, VIPs, social media influencers, and partners for cross-promotional opportunities for single titles as appropriate
- Strategize and contribute to social media and DTC email efforts for both imprints

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- BS degree in marketing, literature, or a related field
- 5-7 years’ experience in marketing with a demonstrated ability to innovate, manage high-profile initiatives, and deliver results. Experience with franchise authors a plus.
- Fluency in key marketing concepts and tools including email, social media marketing, and digital marketing.
- Experience in creating decks and presentations and presenting in front of large groups including internal meetings and with outside clients
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, while also having full ownership of your work and autonomy to craft and implement plans for your titles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in marketing research, digital/statistical analytics, and social media tracking tools
- Proactive problem-solver who is collaborative, highly organized, self-motivated, goal-driven, and detail-oriented
- Canva/Photoshop/InDesign experience, knowledge of video editing, WordPress, and animation programs a plus
The compensation range for this position is $90,000-$110,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
