PROJECT ENGINEER - CALEPPIO (MI)

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of technological and operational solutions to optimize warehouse efficiency in a logistics environment. This role will work closely with engineering, IT, and operations teams to design and develop advanced technologies, fostering a data-driven, high-performance work environment.

The Project Engineer will be included in the engineering team focused on Pharmaceutical and Beauty sectors. It is a strategic role for assessing and implementing innovations, delivering tangible improvement in line with the industry advancements. They will serve as the point of contact among various internal teams, gathering requirements and listening to colleagues' needs to create effective solutions aligned with the company's goals.

Responsibilities of the role:

• She/he carries out its activities by putting safety first, in compliance with workplace safety regulations (Legislative Decree 81/08) and safety procedures intended as protection of company assets.

• Identifies innovation opportunities analyzes operational processes and proposes innovative technological solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.

• Design and Development defines, designs, and implements advanced automation systems (robotics, AGVs, automated storage systems, etc.).

• Workflow optimization: collaborates with operational teams to enhance workflows and warehouse layouts using data and advanced analytics.

• Project management: coordinates the implementation of new automation projects, overseeing all phases from initial planning to final delivery and evaluation.

• Performance monitoring and analysis utilizes data analytics and machine learning tools to monitor and optimize KPIs related to warehouse productivity and quality.

• Monitors and tracks the operational flows, related productivity and KPIs of the depot under its responsibility.

• Supports the Operations in their daily work, analyzing data and processes, trying to improve flows and carrying out production follow-ups.

• Supports colleagues involved in the administration of the relevant warehouse for active and passive invoicing, budget creation and profit and loss accounts.

Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM

• At least 3 years' experience in the management of continuous improvement and automation projects in the logistics and non-logistics sector, in/for multinational or Italian companies,

• Cross-functional operations experience (including engineering, solution design, customer support, professional services, managed services, or other operational areas).

• Solid skills in process analysis.

• Fluent in English and Italian

• Excellent knowledge of the Office Suite, Excel.

• Nice to have: Warehouse Management System o ERP system.

• Excellent organizational, analytical and managerial skills, teamwork orientation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with the various interlocutors with cultural diversity in an international organization

• Analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to analyze processes and design innovative and sustainable solutions.

• Teamwork orientation: experience working with cross-functional teams and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Innovative mindset and strong curiosity for emerging technologies: passion for experimentation and discovering new solutions applicable to logistics and automation.

• Innovation-driven approach: ability to identify and evaluate new technologies and solutions, aiming to implement continuous improvements within warehouse processes.

• Excellent listening and communication skills: ability to understand and interpret requirements from colleagues and various business functions to develop targeted and shared solutions.

• Proficiency in requirements gathering and analysis: ability to identify operational needs and translate them into technical specifications for implementing innovative projects.

Location:

North Italy, in proximity to Milano, where GXO has most of the warehouses.
