Summary: To provide culinary support to the Chefs in Culinary for strategic key account presentations, working sessions, and ideation sessions for the development of differentiating food products and to ensure success for our customers and the company. Mentored by the Corporate Executive Chefs and the Director of Culinary for long term internal growth and development / promotion opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer Support

  • Supports the entire Culinary Team in preparing andexecuting products/ideas/applications that meet key customer needs and fit within Griffith Foods current trends, development of products, and core capabilities.
  • Assists Culinary Team in the preparation and execution of customer visits, working sessions, ideation sessions, and presentations held in Griffith Alsip Culinary Center.
  • Possesses a strong desire to learn and develop culinary ideation and presentation skills.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and capable of understanding and executing culinary direction from the team of Chefs in Culinary.
  • Possesses ability to work effectively with all internal resources.
  • Provides culinary support to the R&D, Marketing, Sensory, and Global Culinary departments.
  • Coordinates all domestic and international shipping of products, samples, and equipment for Griffith's Culinary Team.
  • Coordinates and verifies availability of approved raw materials for all sample requests for the Culinary Team.
  • Coordinates, verifies, all internal requests for the reservations of the Culinary Center, Culinary Library and Culinary Meeting Room.
  • Maintain par-stock inventory.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of culinary dishwasher/technician and culinary summer intern.
  • Position requires 10%+ travel as required to assist, prep and execute culinary working sessions,
  • presentations, and ideation sessions to support customer needs.
  • Responsible for supporting customer interaction and development of key relationships within customer's culinary group.

Brand Development

  • Learns, Understands and promotes attributes of Griffith products, and Gold Standard development.
  • Incorporates Griffith seasonings, coaters and sauces where applicable, into menu ideation development.
  • Participates in cross functional teams in identifying ways to improve Griffith portfolio.
  • Learns our manufacturing capabilities and has the potential to translate customer needs into manufacturable products.

Business Development

  • Learns to understand and works within identified financial parameters for all Culinary Department needs.
  • Actively develops contacts and lines of communication with networks such as ACF, RCA, and other professional groups.
  • Participates in translating authentic global products and applications to customers via interaction with Griffith North America and Custom Culinary.

Qualifications:

  • AAS Degree majoring in Culinary Arts obtained by an accredited two-year university and or Community College.
  • Illinois State issued Managers Sanitation License.
  • Professional experience in commercial kitchens and foodservice operations, including a minimum of 5 years of responsibility for supervision of culinary operations and decision making as a Sous Chef, Saucier, or Chef de Cuisine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques with ability to creatively support and translate written concepts into live taste samples as directed by the Culinary Team demonstrating innovation in taste, flavor and texture.
  • Must be able to eat and taste animal protein products and allergens including but not limited to wheat, dairy, and egg.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Travel up to 10%.
