Summary:

The role is responsible for all facets of day-to-day Sanitation for all three shifts activities within the Alsip facility including adhering to accepted safety, quality, and sanitation standards within company policy and approved budgets.

In addition, the role is responsible for all the documentation of the Alsip sanitation processes as well as the presentation of these processes and documents during all Food Safety and customer audits throughout the year.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and administer an effective preventative program for the sanitation (MSS), building facilities, and security, which includes review of the overall program including frequency and improvements.
  • Summarizes and presents statistical analysis to validate new or proposed changes to sanitation schedules.
  • Coordinates all cleaning activities that needed to be conducted by the Alsip sanitation across three shifts.
  • Reviews regularly environmental and food contact swab reports from the Microbiologist regarding plant cleanliness levels to react to trends.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements in methods, procedures, and processes.
  • Participates in evaluation of new equipment from a sanitation point of view.
  • Reacts to and develops immediate plan to address any concerns reported that is related to sanitation.
  • Visits suppliers and raw material warehouses to perform sanitation/GMP audit.
  • Assists in customer, regulatory, and third-party audits in the areas of sanitation.
  • Assist in investigation and satisfactory disposition of internal issues, customer complaints and audit findings.
  • Identify deficiencies, find solutions, and manage corrective action.
  • Works with other Griffith plants to standardize procedures and cleaning methods.
  • Generating RFPs for contract bids of Outside Vendors
  • Manages and maintains outside grounds/facilities items for the building (i.e. roof, parking lot, fence, etc.)
  • Participate actively in plant GPS activities (i.e. Gemba walk, RCA, LSW, Tier meetings, OKAMs, GPE brainstorming sessions, Orange Belt training).
  • Works with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to manage installation and startup of capital projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Closely monitors sanitation team to ensure that PM completion is met.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Is responsible of planning, assigning, and directing work as well as appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees.
  • Manage sanitation team safety including training material definition, training support and accident investigation.

Staffing Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and hiring new team members as well as onboarding and coordinating new employees training.
  • Partner with training coordinator of designing proper training program for employees specific to Sanitation.
  • Responsible for addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manage overtime assignments and utilization supporting plant plan and budget goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or combination of 5-8years of industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment with at least 2 years in managing sanitation activities.
  • Other technical knowledge about food safety and employee safety is desired.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead by motivating, coaching and mentoring team members. Proven ability to prioritize work and champion change.
  • Ability to work all shift hours as needed including occasional weekend work, flexible schedule required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, auditors, and customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, RedZone, and Fiix (CMMS) for sanitation activity management

Physical Qualifications:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to: sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell as well as work on a platform and climb up and down stairs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of the supervisor position, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
