Summary:The Plant Manager is responsible for all facets of the day-to-day operation of the manufacturing facility including Employee Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Production, Warehousing, Maintenance, Engineering, Sanitation and GPS (Lean Manufacturing) activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The incumbent will create an environment which promotes individual and team commitment to the achievement of the operating plan & the Company's Purpose Driven Strategy, both strategically as well as tactically.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensure production of safe product in a safe way

  • Develops plans to ensure that employees work in a safe environment and plant safety goals are met.
  • Ensure that safe and quality products (in conjunction with Quality Systems) are produced on schedule to meet customer demands and all audit requirements.
  • Ensures the Plant complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Drive implementation of the GPS/LEAN enterprise and continuous improvement cultural transformation

  • Fosters an environment of data driven continuous improvement by leveraging GPS (Lean Manufacturing) principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Lead and ensure implementation of daily management meetings, Gemba walks and standard process audits to sustain Lean production practices at the site.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of space, equipment, and employees. Manages Warehousing/Shipping, Maintenance, and Sanitation functions to keep facility in compliance with food industry GMP's.
  • Drive supply chain efficiencies & innovation through internal and external expertise to meet the changing future environment.
  • Provides direction to Engineering in the pursuit of better, modern, more efficient technologies and works to implement projects in an effective way (EM process).
  • Assess current maintenance work processes, optimize efficiency, oversee, manage maintenance procedures and operations.
  • Review's production requirements and modifies plans to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the plant.
  • Develops the operations budget and manages the plant to achieve the budgeted goals.

Fosters a positive, engaging morale and an inclusive and participative environment

  • Visible leader on the production floor that connects with the employees. Must be approachable and able to coach and develop employees at all levels within the plant.
  • Partners with HR in the development of talent hiring and retention, promotion of diversity and inclusion, recognition, and morale improvement strategies.
  • Responsible for the Talent Management of the plant staff which include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Responsible of appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Miscellaneous

  • Works with other plants, sister companies, and Global functions to share and adapt best manufacturing and supply chain practices.
  • Works with Sales, R&D, Finance, and Marketing to develop and improve products and meet customer requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and ten years' manufacturing management experience.
  • Supply Chain, Lean and/or Six Sigma education is a plus.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; good listening skills; a team player who demonstrates the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the company and who is sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to calculate and understand business acumen.
  • Ability to solve practical problems dealing with multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and change.
  • Customer relationship building skills to be a trusted advisor.
  • Attention to detail, well organized and able to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage time to complete multiple tasks by required deadlines.
  • People driven and motivates others to excel; ability to identify and develop leaders.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Travel up to 20%.
