Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $132,400.00 to $220,700.00. This position is eligible for participation in our short-term incentive program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.

The range provided is not a guarantee of compensation. The range reflects the potential base pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual base pay compensation will depend, in part, on factors such as geographic work location and relevant experience and skills. The anticipated compensation range described above is subject to change and the compensation ultimately paid may be higher or lower than the range described above.

Position Details:

The Director, Branch Network reports directly to VP, Branch Network. You will lead 16-20 team members in a complex region of branches to provide the best customer service, at the lowest cost, and with the best team member experience. To achieve this, Directors are expected to be in close collaboration with the Branch Leadership Team in setting strategy and driving progress, leveraging critical thinking, data driven problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the role requires a strong focus on hiring the best talent within their teams who will lead, develop and empower team members across the network.This individual will need to reside within or near the assigned geography, Lake Forest area or further east. The hiring leader is open to remote candidates as long as they are located near a major airport.

You Will:

  • Be responsible for close collaboration and implementation of strategy within the Branch Network.
  • Create a culture that values safety and enables continuous improvement.
  • Lead branches in the improvement and standardization of core processes.
  • Create accountability around important metrics related to people, service, operational excellence, and profitable growth.
  • Oversee the Branch talent pipeline to ensure a bench of ready now leaders. Select, develop, and empower a diverse leadership team.
  • Build partnerships across the enterprise and represent the branch value proposition to differentiate Grainger versus the competition. Main partners include HR, GTG, Finance, EH&S, Indirect Purchasing, Supplier Management, Supply Chain, Keepstock, and Sales.
  • Represent the Branch Network on new customer engagements to ensure they make financial sense and implement flawlessly.
  • Partner with Grainger's Real Estate and Finance teams to ensure utilization of Branch locations.
  • Interact with the executive team to provide updates on the operation, important metrics, customer service, and growth.
  • Balance cost with exceptional customer service.
  • Improve the customer walk-in and pickup experience.
  • Identify best practices both within and outside of Grainger. Develop operational changes.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA beneficial.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience developing creative solutions within a complex customer and supply chain environment.
  • A broad-based understanding of business processes and relationships.
  • Understanding of the supply chain and the drivers that impact service and profitability (i.e. cycle times, quality, productivity, inventory, transportation costs, and product costs).
  • Ability to communicate company direction and inspire others to take action necessary to accomplish complex and difficult objectives.
  • Complex agreement negotiation skills, both internally and externally. Resource utilization to achieve outstanding results working with and through others.
  • Understanding of the impact of decisions on team members, customers, and financial metrics.
  • Team building expertise.
  • Prioritization abilities in the face of shifting demands.
  • Presentation skills.
