Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Business, Economics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • 7 years of experience in project/program management within a corporate organization (e.g., tax, law, real estate, etc.), and global site selection/economic development incentive agreement making.
  • Experience in technical writing, programmatic development of policies/procedures, financial modeling, and presentation development.
Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA, JD degree, or other professional certification.
  • Experience in government affairs and public policy.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: colocation, site selection for high-technology, industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction, utility agreements, energy-related issues, or clean energy initiatives.
  • Ability to build commercially and technically creative solutions, work independently, and coordinate efforts with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent business, ethics, discretion, and confidentiality skills.

About the job

In this position, you will have a key role in helping to drive location strategy, site selection, and portfolio management for new and existing data centers sites and related infrastructure. You will support the development of the company's global economic development program for data centers. You will work with the team to identify locations and sites of interest for self-developed data centers, help establish contact, and build relationships with third-party data center providers. You will lead and set standard operating policies and procedures on how to make agreements with economic development incentive packages and engage in business discussions with key stakeholders. Tasks may include oversight of a broad range of tax and incentive issues including site and infrastructure development strategy and milestone tracking. You will work with the Economic and Community Development and Energy and Location Strategy teams to support business discussions with key stakeholders.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$248,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term global strategies for data center economic development that take into account multiple internal and external variables.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical teams to identify, define and pursue new economic development projects, new market development opportunities, and company initiatives.
  • Identify and assess economic development trends, risks, and opportunities, develop recommendations, and drive product, geography, industry and strategy evolution.
  • Build foundational standards, guidelines, protocols and help structure best practices for global economic development programs and projects, work with globally distributed teams to communicate long-term strategy frameworks, collect requirements and emerging issues, and support analytical projects.
  • Develop best practices for standard risk analyses impacting long-term data center development, work with cross-functional teams beyond primary organization, and support development, aggregation, tracking, and reporting of portfolio related metrics, OKRs, KPIs, and goals.
