As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the definition and execution of the Android codec strategy. You will be responsible for the video and image formats supported by the Android platform. You will design and build solutions to enable the creation of media with the highest visual quality and encoding efficiency. You will closely work with app developers, silicon vendors, device manufacturers, including Pixel team to ensure the Android ecosystem integrates and uses the codecs in optimal ways to deliver the most delightful user experiences. You will research, develop, and integrate video and image processing algorithms using GPU/TPU acceleration.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and integrate video processing algorithms using Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and Tensor Processing Unit (TPU).
  • Analyze video streams anddetermineopportunities for efficiency improvements in media stack.
  • Design, implement, and maintain framework solutions written in C++ and Java to improve the visual quality of the content created on Android devices.
  • Collaborate with hardware vendors to identify which media capabilities should be added to chipsets.
  • Drive fine tuning of software and hardware video encoders. Contribute to engineering efforts to develop the tools and test infrastructure needed to measure the visual quality of videos and images encoded on Android devices.
