Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, C, Python).
  • Experience with data structures or algorithms.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with smart home standards and protocols such as Matter, etc.
  • Experience with application protocols, especially for consumer products that interact with cloud-based services and mobile apps.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software, and services for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Google Nest team develops, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users' homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Thread Group on Thread standards evolvement.
  • Design and develop Thread features and integrate Thread into smart home devices across various OSes (e.g., Linux, Android, Fuchsia) to make the Thread networking technology a great benefit to both Nest and third-parties broadly.
  • Drive stability, performance, and robustness across a diverse set of network environments and topologies.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, service operations, or user's experience.
