Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures/algorithms and software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python or Go).
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, cloud computing, and large databases.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple global stakeholders, along with knowledge of database internals and Google infrastructure.

About the job

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google's services-both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems-have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE's will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance. Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on projects that will improve the reliability of AlloyDB. Join a Tier 1 on-call rotation (9.30 AM - 9.30 PM IST).
  • Work on product/tool development supporting software and infrastructure tools.
  • Create, influence and review ongoing design, architecture, standards and methods for services and systems.
  • Manage availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of Google services by engineering reliability into software and systems.
  • Respond to and resolve emergent service problems; write software and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Participate in service capacity planning, software performance analysis and system tuning.
