Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP).
  • 6 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).

  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with SQL and database platforms.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience or interest in the media industry, including movie, television and video technologies.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, multitasking, project management, and communication skills.

About the job

The media industry is changing and our team is focused on building the future for YouTube, including products like YouTube TV and Primetime Channels. In this role, you will lead our technical roadmap and tooling best practices by example for TV Partner Eng to help further scale the team's technical capabilities.

As a Senior YouTube TV Partner Engineer, you are the trusted advisor across the internal Partner Eng and cross-functional team for TV Operations technical design, roadmap and tooling that span across multiple domain areas (VOD, Linear, Onboarding, etc). You architect the TV Partner Engineering roadmap by collaborating with the team and package it into a clear narrative that fits together with success metrics. You drive the roadmap for other Partner Engineers, using your expertise to ensure the prompt and proper resolution of technical tests as well as facilitating best practices to improve the team's execution speed and quality. You serve as the role model for the TV Partner Eng team in proposing and delivering solutions that improve our operations. You lead by example and build some of our most testing and complex tools.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical goal and strategy for YouTube TV Partner Engineering, including design documentation, reusable components, and a roadmap. Influence the cross functional technical roadmap and create long term alignment.
  • Lead by example in building some of the most testing and complex operational tools.
  • Guide the team's development process through scheduled reviews and advocate for new solutions with quality execution. Mentor team members and drive a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Oversee the team's bug hygiene and improve the bug reporting and triage process.
