Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in system design leadership, system hardware leadership roles, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hardware platforms, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and Tensor Processing Units (TPUs).
Preferred qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience with enterprise class hardware systems design.
  • Experience with data center engineering, server, storage and networking products.
  • Experience in solving system issues, technical innovation and drive technical roadmap.
  • Ability to collect and organize details to reproduce results and explain findings.

Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational tests are unique, enabled by custom hardware designed and made in-house.

In this role, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most effective computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concepts all the way through to manufacturing. You will work to shape the machinery that goes into our data centers affecting millions of Google users.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a system and hardware design on data center hardware products.
  • Bring up systems and execute engineering validation in the lab.
  • Gather requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design and product validation.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams to productize designs and field support.
  • Drive product from concept to production.
