Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with SQL, Go, C++, and Dreampipe.

People shop on Google more than a billion times a day - and the Commerce team is responsible for building the experiences that serve these users. The mission for Google Commerce is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers - from inspiration to to a simple and secure checkout experience - and the best place for retailers/merchants to connect with consumers. We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today's digital world.

Responsibilities

  • Clarify requirements with clients and Product Managers, including understanding the client needs and sometimes proposing alternative requirements which fit their business needs better than the one they asked for.
  • Scope work items within a larger project and deliver them together with more engineers from the team.
  • Manage client expectations and timelines, including proposing short/long-term solutions with clear tradeoffs and plans for managing/removing tech debt.
  • Write high quality designs and code that serve as examples for more engineers.
  • Work together with the Metrics Infrastructure team to inform prioritization of infrastructure features that could increase velocity of data engineering work.
