Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, a related field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Business, Finance), or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in solving product or business problems, econometric modeling, or conducting statistical analysis using standard statistical software (e.g., Strata, Python, R).
- 2 years of experience in policy analysis or regulatory proceedings at a policy think tank, economic consulting firm, government or regulatory agency, or technology company.

- Experience and demonstrated success in managing cross-functional stakeholders.

The Competition Economics subgroup of the Economics team conducts and coordinates data-driven economic analyses in high-stakes legal and regulatory proceedings involving AI, Search, Android, Play, Cloud, Ads, and other marquee Google products and services. We provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on competition policy matters and contribute to Google's engagement with regulatory bodies worldwide.
As a Policy Economist at Google, you will develop evidence on Google's contributions to the economy and to society, informing policymakers and regulators of the benefits of allowing our products and services to continue to operate within a competitive and innovative marketplace.
In this role, you will have a direct impact on shaping the future of technology by providing critical economic guidance on issues fundamental to Google's ability to innovate and fulfill its mission of organizing the world's information and making it universally accessible and useful.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$223,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and exercise oversight over a variety of economic impact reports, including both in-house reports as well as third-party outsourced reports, with a view towards ensuring robustness and maximizing the coherence and credibility of the findings.
- Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on economic policy developments relevant to Google (e.g., in energy and taxation) and contribute to Google's engagement with policymakers and regulatory bodies worldwide, including through the development of compelling data-based narratives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, legal, and finance teams to provide economic evidence for regulatory proceedings that will define the conditions of operation for Google's businesses.
