Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 3 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 12 years of relevant industry experience with 5 years of technical leadership or people management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in upgrading legacy systems via incremental modernisation.
  • Familiarity with databases and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of innovations in Cloud SQL Control Plane to a large set of customers.
  • Own and drive the design, implementation, quality and rollout of key features that provide new managed databases experiences for our customers.
  • Drive features and improvements to ensure availability, reliability, security and efficiency of Cloud SQL Control Plane.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, TLs, and Product Managers across various teams in Cloud SQL and in Google Compute Engine (GCE) and Google at large to ensure alignment on direction, plans and execution.
  • Influence and shape the team's culture and process and drive long term technical direction. Grow and mentor other engineers into strong engineers.
