Responsibilities
About the role:
The Immigration Specialist will work with the Global Mobility Manager to provide support in the areas of immigration and global mobility with the goal of providing customer-centric seamless service.
- Support Initiation, coordination and management of immigration cases with outside immigration partner's to ensure compliance, optimal processing timeline and maximum efficiency
- Utilize a strong working knowledge of immigration policies and procedures, to recommend improvements to work flow and operation objectives
- Provide excellent customer service and proactively manage communication with employees, Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders on case progression and key milestones
- Proactively analyze immigration matters and effectively communicate solutions to internal stakeholders in collaboration with outside immigration counsel and Global Mobility Manager
- Continually support education of Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders on immigration updates, concerns, strategies and policies
- Assist with processing/coding of immigration invoicing
- Assist in preparation of annual immigration budgets
- Ensure immigration data is accurately maintained and that the organizations immigration compliance records have appropriate level of data security
- Continually update internal immigration website to properly maintain immigration documentation
- Provide initial consulting on immigration cases to Talent Acquisition, Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders
- Manage immigration analytics data and prepare program updates for stakeholders
- Assist with other global mobility tasks, which may include involvement with international relocations
- Assist with special projects and other administrative duties as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Conform with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications
What makes you a dream candidate?
- Experience with MS Office suite; specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Experience consulting on procedural requirements for various visa types; non-immigrant and immigrant
- Passion for immigration and understanding of the sensitivity of the process to the employees
- A team player that can adapt to the fast-paced and ever-changing environment, work collaboratively with other departments and managers at all levels within the company
- Ability to effectively interface with all level of employees
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
- Able to demonstrate complete discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- High professional standards; strong customer service mentality, is positive and is resourceful
- Strong oral and written communication; able to communicate effectively within GM Financial's diverse culture
Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience managing H-1B, B-1, L-1, TN, F-1and permanent residency cases
- Additional experience in domestic relocation, international assignment management and global mobility will be advantageous
- The ability to fluently speak Spanish and/or Portuguese would be valuable
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required
- 1-2 years experience with employment sponsored immigration such as temporary work visas, permanent residency and I-9 compliance required
