About the role
We are looking for a Communications Specialist with 5+ years of work experience in corporate communications to support the company's internal and external communications efforts such as crafting initiatives, strategies and plans to establish and nurture relationships with key audiences, creating storytelling opportunities, and to protect and elevate brand identity. As part of the Corporate Communications team, you will also develop and execute key projects to promote employee engagement and connection, and company reputation. The newly created position can be based in Monterrey, Mexico and reports to the Corporate Communications Manager of International Operations.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline. The ability to alternate between independent, collaborative, cross-functional and cross-cultural working styles, and strong verbal/written fluency in English and Spanish, desirable Portuguese.
What you need
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline.
- Self-motivated professional with 5+ years of related work experience within different fields of corporate communications and/or PR agency.
- Experience in communications planning and execution, content generation, and external and internal channel management.
- Broad understanding of public and media relations, and social media channels in international organizations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Fluent in Spanish and English (speaking and writing).
- Portuguese-language skills (is a plus).
- Familiar with communications tools, such as media monitoring tools, social media platforms, newsletter generators, web tools, video, and design suits (desirable).
- Post-graduate studies (desirable).
What you will be doing
As a Communications Specialist at GM Financial, your mission is to design and implement world-class communication that contributes to the company's continued growth and success. With a focus in International Operations, the Communications Specialist will conceptualize and create compelling content to engage internal and external stakeholders and community partners, also aim for connecting global or local projects and initiatives and collaborate with other markets.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Plan and execute corporate communications plans for various audiences
- Identify and create content for global and local corporate communications channels, internally and externally.
- Provide subject-matter expertise on best use of communications channels, external relations, and initiatives to promote the company in corporate environments.
- Provide communication counsel, grammar, editing and content expertise to support other departments, as needed.
- Identify potential media story opportunities and work proactively to develop and execute an integrated media strategy and messages, as needed
- Monitor media coverage and proactively identify topics and issues of importance. Also create media coverage reports when necessary
- Support Leadership on specific external communications activities (i.e., media interviews, conference speaking and thought leadership opportunities.)
- Collaborate with GM Communications teams in different locations
- Follow procedures and processes to ensure consistency and corporate standards.
