GLAUKOS - SR. ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Accounting Associate II is responsible for overseeing and executing various financial tasks with a high level of proficiency and accuracy. This position requires extensive experience in accounting principles and practices, along with the ability to mentor and support junior team members. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders.

What will you do?

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and variance analysis.
  • W9/1099 audits, preparation, mailing, and IRS filings
  • Various monthly and quarterly journal entry processing and financial schedule creation/maintenance.
  • Various GL account reconciliations.
  • Bank account reconciliations.
  • Petty cash reconciliation.
  • Assist with quarterly and yearend audit review requests.
  • Monthly prepaid PO tracking and reconciliation.
General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and approve journal entries prepared by junior team members.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in account balances.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Oversee the processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
  • Review and approve payments to vendors, ensuring adherence to payment terms.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and collaborate with collections team to expedite payments.
  • Fixed Asset tracking, maintenance and management.
  • Recording acquisitions and disposals.
  • Tracking of CIP and placing finalized assets in service.
  • Monthly depreciation calculations.
  • Quarterly and annual physical inventories.
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
  • Documentation management.
  • Assists with preparation of annual property tax returns.
Month-End and Year-End Close:
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of adjusting entries and accruals.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of close activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support auditors during annual audits.
Compliance:
  • Sunshine Act data capture, entry, audits, and reporting activities.
  • Assist in the development of Sunshine related communications and training.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures within the accounting department.
  • Leverage technology solutions to automate repetitive tasks and improve accuracy.
Training and Mentorship:
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, including training on accounting principles and software tools.
  • Review work performed by junior team members and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the accounting team.
How will you get here?

Requires 8+ years of accounting experience with an emphasis in:
  • Understanding of fixed asset accounting
  • Knowledge in how to prepare an analysis
  • Experience in auditing and performing periodic data reviews
  • Involvement in account reconciliation processes
  • Experience with annual 1099 reporting
  • Knowledge of the Sunshine Act and reporting requirements
  • Experience with SOX compliance
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated proficiency in standard MS Office software applications
High school diploma required. Bachelors and/or Masters degree will equate toward additional years experience.
