As Payroll Director, you will be pivotal in shaping our global payroll strategy while ensuring operational excellence and compliance. This working manager position involves hands-on execution of day-to-day payroll operations, leadership of a small team, and forward-looking planning to drive scalability and efficiency.
What will you do?
Strategic Leadership and Process Development
- Collaborate with Finance leadership to develop and execute a global payroll strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
- Design and implement scalable payroll processes and systems to support future expansion and complexity.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to align payroll strategies with broader business initiatives.

- Oversee accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple countries and regions.
- Take a hands-on approach to daily payroll operations while driving operational efficiency through proactive measures.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of payroll systems as needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll integration during new market entries.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with internal teams to mitigate risks, maintain audit readiness, and uphold best practices in payroll governance.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership roles in a global, high-growth organization.
- Proven expertise in designing and scaling payroll systems and processes.
- Industry experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or healthcare is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of domestic and international payroll compliance, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success in leading payroll transformations, including system implementations and process improvements.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills, with a focus on scalability and innovation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in global payroll and HR platforms such as ADP or Oracle.
