To support this rapid growth, Ginkgo is seeking a highly motivatedLab Stockroom & Inventory Lead. This role will be a key member of Ginkgo's Procurement and Supply Chain team and will be responsible for Ginkgo's lab stockrooms, inventory management, lab consumables order management, warehouse management, external partnerships, and receiving processes across all Ginkgo locations. This lead will collaborate with R&D, facilities management, logistics, procurement and cross-functional teams to understand and meet Ginkgo's business requirements. Doing so will require internal business requirements building/process mapping, external market assessment, systems implementation, supplier relationship, contract management, change management and developing policies and procedures to deliver the financial and non-financial benefits. This individual will be an important cross-functional contributor in the company, invited and expected to expand their area of expertise, and to contribute broadly to the company's success, not just within the procurement and supply chain team.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, & operate lab stockroom and inventory management operations, systems and processes
- Manage internal ordering processes for lab consumables to optimize inventory and distribution.
- Responsible for designing and implementing the receiving process. Manage receiving teams at multiple locations to ensure process adherence and SOX compliance
- Optimize and effectively manage Ginkgo internal space and external warehouse space
- Enable uninterrupted supply of items and ensure no delays on customer order fulfillment.
- Develop and deploy logistics & inventory performance standards
- Perform risk assessment to categorize high risk suppliers/items, and propose mitigation strategies - including potentially partnering with product development to identify and qualify alternative sources.
- Assess current and future operational risks and translate those into strategies, capabilities, best practices, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Liaise with the R&D team to evaluate opportunities where operations can enhance the customer experience.
- Develop nimble policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance.
- Ensure relevant supply chain KPI's are created, implemented and tracked.
- Influence changes in ways of working within the Ginkgo's community.
- Collaborate with finance to streamline and lead budget/forecasting process relating to third party spend to improve the efficiency and timeliness of budget cycle to support Ginkgo's growth
- 5+ years of experience in managing lab stockroom, inventory management operations, systems and processes
- Experience in managing receiving processes, scheduling/planning
- Experience managing large teams and external suppliers
- Experience managing ordering processes for lab consumables
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean tools required.
- Ability to create and manage a value stream plan and make the right decisions based on the data.
- A change agent, someone who is always looking to make continuous improvements to a product or process.
- Comfortable with fast pace, competing priorities, being able to apply a set of tools or a framework to an ambiguous problem by identifying key metrics, mapping the process, performing root cause analysis. Successful managing efficiency and productivity metrics.
- Extremely organized and analytical, heavy on delivery, and data driven analysis.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with sound business acumen.
- Excellent communication skills, able to communicate clearly and succinctly in writing, presentations and verbally to multiple levels within the organization. Ability to flex between the strategic and tactical as necessary.
