Role Description
The Network Engineering team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. GFiber's complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. In this role, you'll:
- Support the Network Deployment and Operations team by managing the engineering practices of GFiber's OSP Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network.
- Support the network deployment to Single Family Units (SFUs), Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs), and Single Business Units (SBUs) through management of our design and permitting process.
- Interface with the GFiber Outside Plant (OSP) network team to coordinate project engineering activities, progress and financial reporting, invoice review, and change management.
- Manage production with various vendors to ensure they are following proper guidelines and standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly execute on network designs.
- Support network planning activities by managing the planning of new huts
- Coordinate the lease of dark fiber with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage the design and permitting for network relocations
- Manage network documentation process into the Fiber Management System
- Oversee the Engineering Quality Control process
- Oversee the address serviceability process
- Collaborate with Network Engineering on hut and CAS-P activations and new technology implementation
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in managing large, highly-complex, outside plant projects, FTTH or outside plant engineering projects.
- Robust knowledge of inside and outside plant fiber optic network infrastructure, engineering design and construction, and the ability to work cross-functionally to manage the designs and build scalable construction, installation, and support processes.
- Experience working with municipalities managing right-of-way and construction permitting.
- Knowledge of Make Ready Engineering practices, including NESC, NEC, or GO-95 (CA only) clearances.
- Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality.
- Experience coordinating work schedules to meet intermediate and completion milestones.
It's preferred if you have:
- 10 years of experience in managing large, highly-complex, outside plant projects, FTTH or outside plant engineering projects.
- 5 years of experience managing and leading teams of more than 5 people.
- Contract or vendor management experience, including defining scope of work and quality control.
- Familiarity with aerial and underground construction methods.
- Capital budget management experience.
- Knowledge of analyzing fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work.
- Familiarity with outside plant equipment and materials.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $154,000 - $169,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
