Job Description Summary
Your role as the Wind Farm Field Service Technician will see you interface regularly with the Service Managers, Customer, internal technical team, other GE Onshore wind farms, contractors and the local community. Joining the resident site team in performing scheduled and unscheduled servicing of wind turbines and site infrastructure, undertaking tasks including annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchange and fault finding. Based at our Goyder Wind Farm Project near Burra SA.
Wind Turbine specific training will be provided to the successful applicants.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interpret the requirements of GE manuals, specifications, bulletins, and complete assigned tasks in accordance with GE work instructions.
- Perform and ensure the proper maintenance and fault finding of assets.
- Maintain reports using GE's various software management tools and databases.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the organization's JSA, LOTO, EHS and associated policies/procedures.
- Report errors, violations, incidents, or problems immediately using GE reporting systems.
- Submit enquiries to Engineering to ensure technical issues are resolved.
- Answer questions from Management, Engineering, Sourcing and Project Teams as required.
- Make a conformance or non-conformance decision upon completion of inspections.
- Form part of an on-call roster to work weekends or after hours if required or as directed by management.
- Perform High Voltage switching operations according to site procedures, as required (electrical candidates only).
- Be familiar with and follow all EHS policies and procedures applicable to the job and cooperate with GE investigations and EHS audits.

Skills and Qualifications:
Either of the following trade qualifications or skills are suitable for this role:
- Electrician or electrical fitter with unrestricted A-Grade Electrical License.
or:
- Mechanic or mechanical fitter.
Training and Experience:
The following following skills and training are required for this role:
- Previous experience in renewables, power distribution, mining, oil & gas or other heavy industry (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with installation, replacement, troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment (electrical candidates only).
- Experience with installation, replacement, troubleshooting and testing mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
- Must hold a current Australian Driver's license.
- GWO Basic Training (preferred but not essential, training will be provided).
- GWO Advanced Rescue Training (preferred but not essential, training will be provided).
- High Voltage Switching Operations (preferred but not essential, training may be provided).
- HRWL including Dogging, Rigging (Advanced), Forklift, EWP (not essential, training may be provided).
Desired Characteristics:
The following following characteristics are desirable for this role:
- Have positive attitude with commitment to safety policies and procedures.
- Have ability to complete physically demanding tasks at heights and be willing to climb wind turbine generators.
- Good technical aptitude and effective problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Intermediate level of computer skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Word and Excel.
