Job Description Summary
In this role, the Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology (AMRT) Machining and Tooling Engineer will identify, develop, industrialize, and globalize machining and tooling processes & technologies for the gas turbine repair services network and new make supply chain. Position involves industrial tools design/prototyping and manufacturing from scratch as well as it's later validation. This person will coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive conventional and non-conventional machining processes that will enable contractual services productivity & fulfillment, transactional services growth, & new unit productivity & fulfillment for a variety of industrial gas turbine components.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and manufacture tooling and fixtures for different applications within global GE network.
- Develop and maintain programs as needed for inspection equipment such as Gantry CMM or Faro-Arm.
- Interface with the customer, interpret and evaluate the customer needs, and transfer information to the tool shops and within the company.
- Review and check Tool/Fixture Designs, as required, to ensure conformance to specifications, original intent, proper methods and procedures.
- Review tooling and department supplies and issue purchase requisitions to replenish.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop production strategies by assisting in the selection of cutting tools and work holding fixtures.
- Identify and drive cost reduction projects through the utilization of Lean Manufacturing principles by increasing automation, and reducing manual as well as production steps where possible.
- Occasionally train or assist shop floor personnel in the use of programmable equipment and in the resolution of problems per processing requirements based on daily job assignments.
- Provide on-site support for qualifying vendors for fixture duplication.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. in machine design /mechatronic/production engineering or a related discipline.
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Advance knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Blue print reading, hand gauge and geometric tolerance experience is required
- General knowledge of Quality Control inspection techniques
- Proven experience with CAD/NX
- Experience with setting up and operating multi-axis CNC equipment and CNC/manual lathe
- Some experience in CNC Programming
- Strong verbal and written English
- Good organizational skills, eye for details
Desired Characteristics
- Product expertise in gas turbine or aviation turbomachinery
- Proven experience in CNC programming
- Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Machine installation and maintenance experience
- Prior experience with machine programming, setting up equipment and machining operations such as milling, grinding, fast hole EDM, sinker EDM
- Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives.
- Ability to manage priorities and achieve results
- Additional experience in manufacturing and/or component repair for Industrial gas turbine, steam turbines, generators, or Aero engines
