Job Description Summary

The Product Testing Engineer demonstrates high level of technical skills needed to Validate drives for High Voltage Switchgear products. The testing engineer shall test the product on test bench or application as per established procedures & and deliver test report with observations, analysis and inference within planned timeline.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform endurance runs or performance tests of High Voltage Switchgear drive assemblies on test bench or on application as per established procedures and standards.
  • Independently set up test program, test equipment, product to be tested, test cabling, instrumentation etc. to test the product concerned
  • Responsible for Maintenance and upkeep of test lab, test equipment, calibration, lab tools and accessories
  • Monitor and study test data and evolution and identify and abnormalities for necessary action
  • Prepare failure reports with observations, analysis and inference in case of failures during test
  • Deliver detailed test reports of tests performed in specified format with observations, analysis and inference within planned timeline
  • Maintain a test journal of the test performed with clear information
  • Manage and perform tests at external lab, with external witness where needed
  • Interact with Global R & D and competence centers on technical matters.
  • Additionally work on assigned projects for product value engineering
  • Documentation of technical data, consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Completes assigned work in a timely manner with appropriate level of effort, following applicable practices, methods and standards.
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizes work appropriately.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering. • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in product testing/ application engineering of electro-mechanical products and assemblies. Experience in product testing/ application engineering of HV/MV switchgear drives preferred.

• Experience on Microsoft office and tools. • Good oral/written communication skills in English. • Good interpersonal and responsive skills, ability to engage and communicate effectively with cross functional and global teams.

• Able to travel to domestic/ international locations for around 10 - 15% of work duration

Desired Characteristics

• Proven analytical ability. • Demonstrates clear product knowledge including operation/maintenance.

• Noted for accuracy/thoroughness of test reports /technical work. • Continually expands technical skills and knowledge.

• Experience with Data Acquisition software/hardware preferably of switchgears.

• Understanding of mechanical part, assembly drawings and interpretation of requirements.

• Exposure to manufacturing and assembly processes.

• Team player and networking skills. • Demonstrates passionate commitment to delivering quality products to customers. • Ensures compliance to applicable laws and regulations governing quality, safety and product performance. • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement both on a personal and organizational level. • Uses quality tools and methods as appropriate.
