We are currently looking for our next Tendering Manager to join our multicultural Team!

Your Mission:

The selected candidate will manage our Grid Automation tendering activities for Central Europe like DACH region. Primary role is to manage timely delivery of high quality, accurate, competitive value adding propositions to clients and to drive the resources necessary to win the bid. Ensuring the delivery of all Bid Solutions is compliant with customer requirements and expectations, developed in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

In order to do this effectively, close customer contact at all stages is critical to establish and define both the clients technical and commercial needs and then to progress and follow the offers through to conclusion in conjunction with other members of the GE Grid Automation Commercial/Operations teams and Regional Teams. All propositions to clients need to be strictly aligned with Grid Solutions, Region and PL strategies and processes, particularly the risk assessment & tender validation instructions.

In this role, the Tendering Manager will work also on large and complex tender for Key customers and work on winning strategy with all the stakeholders. The candidate needs to work with stakeholders' teams to optimize the overall solution and produce cost-effective and technical compliance offer. Strong cross-functional collaboration is required to manage all the stakeholders to work as one flexible unit, organize and drive initial Tender review meetings along with sales team.

Co-ordinating with all external and internal customers is key, interfacing with the operations, Applications, Sales teams of Grid Automation, and the other Grid Solutions businesses. Working closely with sourcing team to optimize the cost of the 3rd party material and services.

The activity includes Commercial & Technical Bid Solution preparation, solution profitability, planning, financial control, general reporting (internal and external) on all aspects of Bid Management.

Main Tasks:

  • Preparing winning proposals to achieve the order's operating plan, major focus on large and complex System and Service tenders including Frameworks for Protection & Control, (Monitoring & diagnostics, and Telecom).
  • Responsible for the full portfolio for Key customers for all the inquiries received directly or via EPC routes.
  • Ensure all relevant tender approvals and gates should be obtained and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Meeting customer's priorities in terms of time schedule, price, and scope from commercial and technical aspects.
  • Participate in customer meetings along with sales team and ensure clarifications/answers/ presentations are available and reviewed ahead of customer requests,
  • Perform cost price analysis of all the relevant tenders for key customer and suggest improvement areas for winning strategy and take actions whereas required along with various stakeholders.
  • Support order booking as per signed contract/PO, ensure booking process well in place & drive an improved OTR turnover process.
  • Conduct Transfer Meeting + Hand-over relevant documents to operations team as per process guideline in timely manner.

Technical Proposals related activities:

  • Review RFQ documents together with applications when necessary to establish a bid strategy in association with capture team Leader to deliver the tender efficiently, maximize customers satisfaction and increase probability of success.
  • Timely review and response to technical inquiries /clarifications of bid and identify and flag key risks and capture them Risk & Opportunity register with mitigation strategy in discussion with stakeholders.
  • Build and manage tender schedules, monitor, report on tender progress. Identify and report any issue or deviation to bidding strategy in a clear and anticipated manner. Propose mitigation actions based on experience and implement corrective actions.

Commercial Proposal related activities:

  • Build up the cost estimate, ensure all costs are properly validated and adequate risks provisions are considered for projects. Establish a realistic target cost at an early stage of the tender with Sales specialist and challenge any costs which does not compare with target cost to avoid any over or under estimation.
  • Establish the tender sourcing strategy in collaboration with technical team and sourcing team, organize preparation of inquiry documentation whereas required for external Suppliers.
  • Follow complete bid management phases to ensure compliance to GE policy and financial guidelines of Grid Solutions/Grid Automation Business.
  • Support the Sales team in commercial and technical meetings/negotiations with customers whereas required. Cost optimization & Risk Analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/ Electronic or mechanical engineering. Master's in engineering degree, commercial, or business Administration degree will be advantageous.
  • Overall minimum 8 years of experience in electrical/machinery Industry including minimum 5 years of experience in Sales, Tendering, Project management and/or Service businesses.
  • Fluency in English and German is key for this position.
  • Understanding of DSTT and MS Visio will be highly appreciated.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of Electrical Substation environment, Substation Automation products & system.
